It's an ancient poltergeist story about a family that is tormented by a chair that thumps throughout the home. The chair eventually takes a pause, and one of its legs seems to be pointing at something. As a result, the family decides to dig a hole in the earth where the chair leg has set its sights. They do locate a corpse, which has the potential to inspire fear, but they bury it so quickly that it is hardly a blip in the tale, which closes with the family departing to return to their hometown, where chairs donât go rarinâ and rampaginâ ârounâ, scarinâ people out of their wits â You get the point €” they desire a secure seat. That seems reasonable.

The main problem with this documentary is that it has no idea what it is about. Is it Schwartz's fault? Is it a matter of censorship? Is it a case of fandom? Is it anything to do with individuals making food? Who can say? We don't because it's so unequal. Not to add that there is no segmentation. Everything is linked. It results in a lengthy, monotonous, and difficult-to-watch show. Unfortunately, the emphasis of the documentary is not on the real books. Fine conversation from Schwartz's family, the occasional explanation of what inspired various novels (The Ozark historian was quite interesting), and a WAY too long fan homage to Gammell's artwork that deteriorated into individuals talking about themselves rather than the books, as they should be. It's a little humiliating that these fans were questioned at all. They are given more time than writers, historians, and literary specialists, who have a far broader frame of reference that is not explored. Two things were mentioned by a lady who wrote about books and their art? I'm sure she had a lot more to say, and it would have been fascinating to hear it.
