Erase as much of the original guide lines as possible for a cleaner appearance. Don't be concerned about deleting all of the guidelines. It is OK to leave some behind. Redraw any final drawing lines that you may have mistakenly deleted. To give your capybara drawing additional depth and substance, add some shading. When shading, choose the direction of the light source so that the shadows are consistent with it. Vary the pressure you apply to your pencil to get varying levels of tonal value. Underneath, add a cast shadow. This helps to ground the capybara and prevents it from seeming to float. You may add additional value to your capybara drawing to add more detail. Use strokes that travel in the general direction of the capybara's fur to add value. Don't increase the value too gradually. Because capybaras have coarse fur, provide some texture in your value.
