It would not be surprising to see Nacht kill himself so that Asta and Liebe might be the heroes of the conflict and assure the human race's survival. Nacht's primary purpose is to halt the demon invasion, but with the devils now running rampant, his efforts are futile. Having Asta and Liebe on the battlefield has shifted the battle's momentum, but their five-minute fault will be the determining factor in the eventual triumph. In chapter 288 of the manga, Black Clover confirms the time restriction that To Stay has in the Devil Union form, while the Kingdom Sword tale continues with the characters' histories beyond the conclusion of the anime.
