The characters themselves are fairly basic and the tale is as well, but I believe it is the manner it's conveyed that gives it that special charm. The movie is lengthy and may be perceived as a touch sluggish , but if you truly appreciate romantic coming of age films and films that have amazing animation and detail then I don't believe it will be a problem. There are situations in this movie that are truly beautiful and some of them may even make you emotional just because of the way they capture events. I'm delighted I made this purchase since this film is an instant classic in my view. (The only difficulty that I have to talk about is with the subtitles. I normally watch foreign films in the language they were originally filmed in and some of the subtitles contain problems which should absolutely be fixed for the viewers' benefit. I assume it was a section of a phrase that showed up and the subtitles were numbers and symbols instead of the word(s))
