The Game of Survival Yuno is presented at the start of the manga as the model student, with high grades and popularity. Yuno maintained a close watch on Yukiteru until April 23rd, when Deus triggered the survival game. On April 24th, Yuno discovers Yukiteru has obtained his Future Diary and constructs a clay figure of Muru Muru on her desk as a reminder to Yukiteru that both of them are Future Diary Owners and that Deus is not a fictitious character. After school, she approaches him. Yukiteru flees in fright, much to Yuno's amazement, until he falls into a building's elevator. Yuno finally catches up with him and joins him in the elevator to rescue him from the Third.
Amano Yukiteru, a 14-year-old second-year middle school student, struggles to make friends. He maintains a mobile phone journal of everything he sees, thinking himself to be a spectator to the world's events. Yuki's main solace from loneliness comes from his imagined pals, one of whom turns out to be the not-so-fictitious Deus Ex Machina, an apparent ruler of time and space. Deus informs Yukiteru that he is working on a 'fun game,' and he changes his mobile phone to a new model that forecasts the future. Yuki quickly abuses his newfound authority, but is pulled back to reality when the journal prophesies his own death. Yuki finds Deus's game includes himself and eleven others with precognative diaries fighting to the death for an extraordinary reward going to the last man remaining after fending off his would-be killer. Outgunned and desperate for survival, Yuki allies up with Gasai Yuno, his crazed stalker who would murder or die for him. As the twelve diary keepers race to discover one other's identities while staying alive, a fantastic narrative full of twists and double crosses unfolds.
Juno, the ancient Roman goddess of love and marriage, inspired the name Yuno.
[7] In an interview in 2009, Sakae Esuno, the author of Future Diary, said that he opted to create Yuno a yandere character in order to make it more difficult for her and Yuki to work together as a team, stating that Yuno is one of the challenges he would ultimately have to confront.
[8] In a subsequent interview, Esuno explained that Yuno is a character whose evolution of various aspects and components of her history would explain how she conditioned her present insane personality. Esuno was also asked whether Yuno, who is "willing to give everything for the hero [Yuki]," was his dream lady, and he simply said no, noting that "meeting such a girl in reality would still be terrifying." [9] [edit] Characterization
Yukiteru Amano, a lonely high school student, spends his days writing a journal on his smartphone and speaking with his two apparently fictitious companions Deus Ex Machina, the god of time and space, and Murmur, the god's servant. Deus, revealing himself to be a real entity, offers Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which contains very detailed future writings, and puts him into a brutal combat royale with 11 other holders of equally strong future diaries. Yukiteru must discover and murder the other 11 in order to live, with the last person remaining proclaimed as the new god of time and space. He grudgingly joins forces with his obsessive stalker Yuno Gasai (who also has such a journal), and she takes on the responsibility of ensuring his safety. But the girl is more than meets the eye, and she may have other intentions for her unrequited love... [Composed by MAL Rewrite]
