Fredricka has a half brother called Edward Ed Wright in addition to her full siblings. Her father had Ed in 1986 as a result of an adulterous affair he had with an American woman named Harriet Wright in Kenya when he was working as a US charity worker in East Africa. Fredricka's personal life is as flawless as her professional life. She was seeing her long-term lover, John Glenn, who would shortly become her husband, at the time. The happy pair decided to make things official and married in order to live happily ever after. Despite severe arguments that almost led to divorce, Fredricka is now a loving mother of five children. She gave birth for the first time in 2005, to her first son, and again in 2012, to twins.

Her father was also a Tuskegee Airman tail gunner in the United States Army Air Forces, flying 27 combat flights during World War I and the Korean War. On November 19, 2015, he died of heart disease and prostate cancer at the age of 91.
