Aiko Tanaka moves into Punpun Punyama's elementary school class and the two become friends. Punpun returns home to see what appears to be the aftermath of his father's abuse of his mother. While Mom is in the hospital and his father is away, Punpun's brother Yuichi Onodera moves in with him. Punpun also discovers that Aiko's mother sells miraculous water, and he promises to send her to her uncle in Kagoshima. Punpun and his buddies are watching a porn movie when they come upon a taped-over confession from a guy who has killed his family and requests that they find the remains and give him an award. This is Punpun's standard form. It's worth noting that he lacks wings in this form, despite the series' main song "Tsubasa wa Kudasai," which wishes for wings and freedom. His figure is little and rounded at the start of the narrative, but as he gets older, it elongates and sharpens.
