Centaurs, which have the upper half of a human body and the whole body of a horse, have long functioned as enemies in Greek mythology, falling prey to classical heroes such as Heracles and Theseus. Centaurs are usually seen these days in the darkest areas of the user-contributed fan site DeviantArt (Warning: do NOT run that search). Where to look for one: Foaly, a neurotic hacker who also happens to be a centaur, is one of the characters in Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series.
