Hello, everyone. I'm just trying to see if anybody else is experiencing problems with Spotify today. My SO and I had just logged out of our accounts a few minutes earlier. She is on a family plan, and I am on my own, therefore I believe the problem is on their end rather than mine.
My email was most likely discovered by a hacker as a result of one of the numerous data breaches it was engaged in. Because Spotify makes your email address your login, all they'd have to do is figure out that my email was tied to a Spotify account and launch a brute force assault, and they'd be in. My password wasn't something particularly safe. I'm thinking there's a method for a person to see what emails are associated with Spotify accounts. To protect my account, I created a new email address and password. An email address that has never been compromised and has never been used in a data breach. That way, they won't be able to brute force my new password as they did the previous one.
