Sporotrichosis, often called rose gardener's disease, is a fungus caused by the Sporothrix fungus. This fungus is found worldwide in soil and plant materials such as sphagnum moss, flower gardens, and grass. People contract sporotrichosis when they come into contact with fungal spores in the water. The most prevalent kind of infection is cutaneous (skin). The fungus penetrates the skin by a tiny cut or scrapes, generally when someone comes into touch with contaminated plant materials. The most frequently affected areas are the hands and arms.
